Artists

Many of the greatest Tango artists are immortalised in official and unofficial public artworks. Images of los grandes, such as Troilo, Tita Merello, Gardel, Goyeneche, Discépolo, Canaro, Pugliese, Piazzolla and others connect the past to the present, maintaining Tango as a bold and confident narrator of Argentine social history. Tango iconography -a most immediate and evocative presence-  illuminates and illustrates Argentine experience, society and identity.
